Past Continuous

Hello students!

How are you doing? Ready for a new tense? 

Hoy vamos a repasar el Past Continuous. Antes de nada, es importante recordar cómo se forma: WAS/WERE + -ING.

USO
El Past Continuous se utiliza para expresar loque estaba ocurriendo en un momento del pasado y para describir dos o más acciones prolongadas e incluso simultáneas en el pasado.
I was having dinner 5 minutes ago.
I was studying while my brother was watching TV.


AFFIRMATIVE (Sujeto + was/were + -ing)
I was dancing
You were dancing
He was dancing
We/You/They were dancing


NEGATIVE (Sujejo + wasn't/weren't + -ing)
I wasn't dancing
You weren't dancing
He wasn't dancing
We/You/They weren't dancing


INTERROGATIVE (Was/Were + Sujeto + -ing + ?)
Was I dancing?
Were you dancing?
Was he dancing?
Were we/you/they dancing?

SHORT ANSWERS
Yes, I was. //  No, I wasn't.
Yes, we were. // No, we weren't. 


Algunas de las expresiones de tiempo asociadas a este tiempo verbal pueden ser:
at five o'clock, yesterday, a week ago...
Ejemplo: I was reading a book at five o'clock.

Las spelling rules del verbo con -ing son las mismas que las del Present Continuous. Para echarle un vistazo rápido pincha aquí.
